Experimental and Numerical Study on Progressive Collapse Analysis of a Glulam Frame Structure: I. Side Column Exposed to Fire

This paper presents experimental and numerical investigations on progressive collapse behavior of a two-story glulam frame when the side column is exposed to ISO834 standard fire. The mechanism initiated by fire identified. results show that could be described for three stages, namely bending effect stage, catenary stage failure respectively. These stages are discussed in detail understand structural before during collapse. It demonstrated entire slopes towards heated column, “overturning” occurs eventually. beams main reason frame. In addition, finite element model established simulate behavior. effects axial loads columns summarized. simulation agree well with results, which verify effectiveness practicability simulation. Furthermore, resistance practical design were proposed.
